I'm built the same way and I have been sizing my bikes more towards the top tube dimension, then all PBH. My favorite handlebar is the Bosco Bullmoose when I can find a real long top tube. As Joe stated prior about being able to get on the bike. I personally am not a fan of the Cheviot look but it makes sense for people like us.
