IIRC, the tt on my single tt 56 cm SH was 59 -- that must be right, since
my normal road tt choice is about 57 and I know that I had to put the bar
on the SH much higher than I like to get the bar close enough to fit (many
variables here, but the long tt was one reason I sold the Sam).

I'm not knocking 2X tts; just asking what purpose it serves on a 56 cm
frame (or 58 or 60, for that matter), for the sort of riding most of us use
it for?

I do recall riders of larger 2 tt Bombadils describing the nimble feel of
the bike.

Meshing this thread with another recent one, stem length and weight over
front wheel and handling: One reason I sold my SH was that, when climbing
seated, without a rear load, but especially with one, the front end wagged
all over the road. I daresay that one factor was my high bar, which didn't
allow sufficient front wheel weight.

At any rate, if the SH could take 60 mm tires, I'd probably still own one.
It would have made a nice alternative to my Fargo in that case. (Even with
2 tts.)
