I thought of stopping to take photos as soon as I blundered into what turned out to be terra incognita, but at the time I was pushing hard through sand and thick weeds and trying to keep the bike from going into the irrigation ditch; and after that I forgot about it until I got home.
Michael: I always use pretty dry lubes -- mostly wax with chain oil, Pro Link, and some purple stuff. So my chains may not collect the grit that others' do with very thick, wet lubes. Still, my chains certainly get dirt on them, particularly the Fargo's. My technique is to pinch the two removable plates together with my left forefinger and thumb while grabbing the next link in line with the f finger and thumb of the right hand: push the right toward the left while wiggling both links and pushing inward on the removable ones. I push and squeeze gently; no death grip. It always seems to work for me. On Sat, Jul 4, 2015 at 9:56 PM, Liesl <li...@smm.org> wrote: > Patrick of the Moore!
