I guess it depends where you live in Colorado Yes the eastern side of the rockies is called "the front range"..The western side ( Grand Junction) is called the Western Slope.That's what the weather people say on T.V. We in Larkspur are around 6825 FT. When you go over Monument hill it's around 7200ft. When you see Patrick riding he rides somewhere around 7000 and 9000 FT. For some it takes some acclimation to get used to the altitude if you are from sea level. I love my Thumbies.I previously had bar ends on my tandem and I enjoy not having to move my hand to the end of the bar to shift. When climbing and want to shift my weight or just want a change of hand position I move my hands forward of the brake levers. You are in LA....I lived in Long Beach for 20 years.
