I don't think this was a majority issue - there will always be outlaws in the 
west, but I agree that most everyone I came across was respectful and thankful 
for any shelter.  The ride isn't anywhere near ruined, it is an unorganized 
gathering at best. The folks that ruined camping in a few spots will not be 
allowed to kill the ride for the rest of us. 

We were all on our own, make no mistake. And you can and should do rides like 
this at any time- you don't need the "organizer's" permission any more than you 
need John Wesley Powell's permission to raft the Colorado.  Treat all outdoors 
as if you are guests/owners (you are), and try to leave it in better shape than 
you find it, but the worst thing is if folks abandon these rides due to a few 
jerks. I will be back. Will also do other rides. There will be rebirth 
(probably by next year). This is temporary, fixable tragedy.
