I inquired with Riv about the possibilities of selling their products at my
shop. Still waiting to hear back. I personally am curious what types of
commitments and terms they are looking for in partnering shops. My shop
has been going through a lot of changes over that last few years and it
would be exciting to see a different brand of bike grace the floor of our
shop. I'm not inclined to take on the brand if they want me to commit to
40 units from the start, but if I can bring in a few units and get a soft
start to warm people up then it might be a possibility. I am a Rivendell
owner, and it's funny when people walk into the shop and see my Hunqapillar
in the corner. I think people are really surprised to see a Rivendell in
my shop, given some of the uber fancy carbon bikes that grace the racks.
But I'm the kind of person that would like to see a brand like Rivendell
grace the floor of a local DC shop. I have sold Rivs at a small shop in
South Dakota some years back, and we did pretty well with them, but Grant
decided to go direct and the lack of margins kind killed the incentive.
What ever shops they decide to go with, I hope all works out for the best.
They are great bikes that make for fun adventures and memorable stories.
