In case you don’t remember Evan E’s recent post proposing a Rivendell
Speedblend World Tour here’s the link:

Evan and I have ridden together several times with a monthly Bay Area
Rivendell Riders group
(https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bay-area-rivendell-riders) so I
was happy to take him up on his offer to try out his Speedblend tires on my
Rivendell and pass them on to the next person. Evan was hoping that they
may travel the country (world?) being passed from Riv to Riv for photos in
various locations around the globe.

Having just handed in final grades Wednesday, I couldn’t think of a better
way to kick off my summer break and the Speedblend World Tour than a trip
up Grant’s mountain, Mt. Diablo. Thanks to Evan’s Speedblends, I made it
to the summit for my very first time. Tough climb but worth it. There are
beautiful views in every direction from the 3849’ summit with windmill
farms to the east, the peaks and valleys of the east bay to the south and
San Francisco (completely fogged in) just past Grizzly Peak to the west.
The wild descent provided a great opportunity to try out the color-changing
feature of the Speedblends. I think they achieved the color of a white-hot
flame! Photos prove I made it:

So, who’s next on the Speedblend World Tour? I will be in LA next week and
can bring the tires if someone would like to take them on adventures in
Southern Califronia. Let me know and we can arrange the exchange. I’ll
also be bringing my Hillborne with trail and road wheelsets if anyone wants
to get together for a ride as well. I may try out El Moro Canyon where I
used to ride when I lived in LA in my 20’s. Want to see if anything's
changed since I lived there 25+ years ago. I welcome any other suggestions
for other SoCal rides. If you have a must-do ride, please pass it along.
If anyone is up for a ride while I'm in town, let me know.
