While this is no doubt true, I think sometimes folks can put a little
too much emphasis on chainline, *especially* on a multispeed rig.
Even on single speed setups, i'll normally just try to get the
chainline reasonable, and then i don't worry about it.

In my experience, chains last a long time maybe because they are good
(like a KMC with riveted pins and beefy links) or because they are
clean, well lubed, etc.
