I impulsively pulled the trigger on one of the NOS QB's last week....a 58. Should be here next week. My S.O. has been getting more trailish and I will continue to push it in that direction. The fenders have come off and the Bruce Gordon RnR's have gone on....also the dirt-drop bars (Origin-8 Gary 2) are on and have been a really nice intro to that style of bar without being too much of a change from noodles. I rode this weekend in upstate NY on lots of trails and it was really the 1st time I switched to the 32t front chainring for riding all day. There's a 16t White Ind freewheel in back...that needs to become a 20t if anyone has one??
The 16t will go on the QB which will be light and roady with my already pretty worn in set of Compass 38mm's. So here's my question. The wheels on the S.O. are Synergy rims and Paul hubs...they are pretty heavy. I need to get a wheelset for the QB but am thinking of putting the S.O. wheels on the new QB and getting more of a mountainy single speed wheelset. Can anyone make some recommendations on rims? I would want a lighter off-road wheelset for the S.O. Not too concerned about hubs...of course they need to be 120mm in the back. I need to keep this thing on a budget too. Any suggestions? Also, I picked up one of the enormous bottle cages from VO for the 40oz kleen kanteen. A must have.
