Yes, the AMTRAK 'promise' has been disappointingly slow to materialize, 
although they DID allow a test run over a year ago (with positive 
results)...

Yet while they seem to be making progress... *National Interest? check... 
Advocate support?  check... Feasibility? check.... Funding/political action 
to make it happen? ....   .....  .... *  This is where it forever seems to 
languish... Hopefully one day in our lifetimes we will be able to roll-on, 
roll-off trains across the country with our bikes... Think of the touring 
vacation possibilities??  *Ahh, dare to dream...*
