Tony: That sign looks to have a lot of good information. I hope other trail agencies pick up on that. Locally we have some spindle drum fixtures with the bike path system map on them, but you have to know where you are to figure it out. They are no doubt cheap & seem low maintenance, but not as user friendly, or easy to find.
As to proceeding directly to "final build", it's a good thought but don't be surprised if you start fiddling. I got my Atlantis in '03, standard Riv build, with every intention of just riding it and not messing around. That lasted a few months, then the fiddling started. Several iterations of racks, bags, shifters, pedals, brakes, brake levers, handlebars, etc., I'm at my current "final build". Come to think of it, the B-17 is the only component not improved, although the original has migrated to a lesser used bike. In the future, I fully expect to find something else to improve. One of the many things I love about my Rivendell is that as I age & my needs change, the bike can easily be adapted to meet those needs. dougP On Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 9:29:19 AM UTC-7, Tony DeFilippo wrote: > > http://dr2dc.blogspot.com/2015/04/back-in-saddle.html > > First completely recreational weekend ride in to long, felt great.
