I hear you on this. The whole Clem sales apparatus has been pretty unusual as far as retail buying experiences go. I have not ordered one but I might have if one had been large enough for me.
It's all a bit seat-of-pants for my liking. $700 is not a crazy amount for a solid and versatile frameset, but it's also not so little that people shouldn't be well-informed about what exactly they are getting. The build kit option, same idea. But I guess they have their motives. It's interesting watching this unfold alongside the Rawland Ravn development process and pre-order thingy, which has been very open, has incorporated public input at every turn and has very detailed specs posted to help the buyer decide whether the product is right for them.
