I didn't realize Surly had a dual single speed cog called a dingle! Unfortunate name. It does seem that the cog is the common problem with all possible solutions, no? Maybe, if you want to stay fixed, and you're already considering a large investment in a custom hub, you could see about getting a custom duo-fixed cog made? Seems like White Ind has the capability already since they do the same for chainrings, they are usable with 3/32" chain which you can get a halflink for, and the combination of eccentric Eno hub plus half-links could be a good solution? Maybe Phil Wood would consider it? If so seems like that would theoretically be cheaper than frame work or a custom hub.
