I'm using an M772 on my KOM (with 9-speed bar end shifters) and I had to add an inline cable adjuster (no adjustable cable stops on the frame either). The inline adjusters (jagwire) aren't that ugly and they work fine. I can adjust it finely enough to run index if I want to.
