dougP,

Bob's Big Boy. Almost "date night" level of dining in my high school years
and mandatory for after football games.

Now if you wanted to cruise, you took your RatRod to "the A", A&W at Venice
and Sepulveda on Friday nights for a Mama Burger Assuming the RatRod had
sufficient reliability (mine didn't and this would surely have caused a
call to Dad's auto service), one cruised between "the A" in Culver City and
the one in Encino. Iteratively. They had waitresses on roller skates who
attached metal trays to your window (mine was frozen in the perfect
position for a tray). In my adolescent mind, the waitresses were
unattainable Goddesses who were in an entirely different category from what
interest from I could get from the other gender.

Sam Hilborne and Boulder All Road are a lot more reliable than what I used
for transportation back in the day.
