I agree with you on the twitchy handling. I bought my Handsome Devil frameset largely as an experiment because I wanted to ride something with steeper geometry to see if I like it. I spent 17 years riding bikes with 71.5 degree head angles and about 40mm of rake to the fork. The Devil has a 73 degree head angle and 45mm of rake. I was fortunate to pick up a 1983 MTB really cheap on Facebook and I actually prefer the ridiculously slack angles of that old thing, over the Devil, although I think somewhere in between the two is probably optimal. I'm now looking to replace my Devil with something a bit slacker, like maybe a 26" Long Haul Trucker or a 52cm Clem, Jr., when those come out.
