so i was working on this bike as an introductory touringish bike for my
girlfriend... then the complete Clem prototypes went on sale and now she
has a little green protovelo, and is in love. (photos of that coming soon)
anyway, im looking to sell the 1990 trek 520 i was working on. USA made,
lugged, pearl white, true temper cr-mo frame/fork/stays. braze ons
everywhere.
it has:

albatross bars
vintage deore thumb shifters
vintage big dia compe levers
cork grips and shellacked bar tape

deore dx derailleurs

nos sugino lt triple crank
new pasela tour guard tires
new bottom bracket
new chain
new cables and housing
new leather (gyes) saddle
kickstand

the weird thing is the wheels, which are 27 inch. not stock. i guess at
some point somebody swapped them out for the original 700c. i didnt notice
until i tried to put tires on (bought it as a
frame/fork/wheels/derailleurs). anyway, the brakes work fine with 27in or
700c. clearances for 40mm tires or slightly bigger if 700c. rear spacing is
132 for road or mtb hubs.
it has been cleaned, frame savered, lubed, greased etc. no dings or dents,
but a moderate amount of beausage to the paint. ready to ride, but i put
this together myself, so fine tuning by a more skilled hand would be
beneficial. currently set up for the smallest person possible with a short
stem and slammed seatpost. even then it was always gonna be slightly too
big for my 5'3 girlfriend (76 pbh). i think this is more ideal for the
78-84 pbh range. here is the trek info 1990 trek catalogue
<http://www.vintage-trek.com/TrekBrochure1990.htm#520>

im about 500$ into it and i'd like to get that out of it. gonna go to ebay
and craigslist, but i thought i'd see if anyone here was interested first.
i have more pictures, if interested. located in Los angeles, but would be
willing to have it shipped.
