Except for maybe California (and they have had a couple of big storms out there this month) and the deep south, weather is always a crap shoot this time of the year. If you have it, this can be a real great time to cycle tour. Not too hot, interesting color from the lower sun, fewer crowds, fewer insects. Reads like you had a great trip.
