This is a great thread to stumble upon. I've been looking for a padded
camera insert for my Swift Industries Ozette bag. Something large enough
for a mid-sized dSLR with a prime lens, plus a compartment for one or two
extra lenses. I've just been using lots of bandana's or a spare shirt. Not
ideal at all. This could be the ticket!

I've also seen lots of guys use really large grab/food bags hanging off the
bars. I'm talking about canvas bags that look like they're designed to fit
a 40oz water bottle or something, with a draw-string closure at the top.
Some people use them for keeping food or electronics close at hand,
especially if they're riding with the ultra-light style baggage where
everything is rolled up and not accessable. I've been thinking a
combination would be best - camera is right there by your hands, spare
lenses are kept tight and cozy in your bag.
