btw, I used shellac on the twine wrap, but I'm using spar varnish on the cork grips. It only has 3 coats in my photo, but will get 6-7 total and will have the same sheen as my daughter's grips. The varnish remains flexible (vs. shellac), and the cork remains squeezy.
