Hi Amit,
I bought one of those flat-but-bent-back Nitto bars from Jitensha several
years ago. It's got the red Nitto heat-treat band around it, like the $65
unavailable one on the Jitensha Studio site.
I wanted more room outside the last bends, so I made some press-fit solid
6061 aluminum extensions, coated the press-in parts with Houshold (Hogar)
glue that GP had recommended for attaching cork grips, and pressed them
in. So mine is about 1-1/2" longer on both ends than as-received. I
installed that bar with a Dirt Drop stem in a 1987 Schwinn Sierra frame.
After a few weeks I didn't like the wrist position, so I replaced the above
with an early Stumpjumper riser bar/double clamp stem combo. That's what
stuck.
If I was you, though, I wouldn't trust somebody else's modified handlebar.
At a minimum, I would cut off that hack's extensions and see what I had
left. it's pretty narrow like that, though.
Thanks for plowing through my story! Please respond if you still want it.
Ben
