After eagerly awaiting the possible arrival of the Clem Smith, a beautiful, lightly used, lugged '93 XO2 frame materialized before my eyes on a popular online auction site. So I put our resident on-line bidder expert to work on the job (wife) and before it knew it, the frame was in our living room! Great job honey! Anyway I've been gathering parts slowly, dirt drop stem, Albastache bars, new synergy/vintage xt wheels, brooks B17, etc and it's almost ready for the buildup, but I've been back and forth on the H bars. Original mustache then Albastache, then back again trying by costing up and down the street crankless etc. After not being totally sold on either at this point I'm now thinking Albatross. Only thing is I'm not ready to give up my road levers on the bends as i road original mustache for many years but want elevate my position. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if / how the mountings of road break levers can be modified to fit onto an Albatross bar and / or if the bend of the Albatross is even large enough to make them workable? I was thinking if the mounting ring on the levers are too large for the bars, i can shim them and make them work. if the mountings are too small?? Anyway there is my obsession...has anyone tried or explored this or am i over the bars on this? Would welcome any thoughts. Thanks!
