Excuse the crosspost from iBOB, thought some listers here might be interested.
As a hobby, I've been making bags to accompany my bikes and have played around with a new bag design: a small, very basic bag to sit on a Nitto M12 (or similar rack) in a boxy randonneur bag fashion. Simple attachment, tombstone slip and provision for a toestrap to secure bag to rack on the bottom. Small design to not require a decaleur. As bag making is very much still a small hobby I've played around with ideas for how to take orders for my regular designs or custom designs. I'd like to try a new idea of a small batch of 10 bags, done through a pre-order system. About the bag: Natural waxed canvas fabric - natural color is an off-white, cream sort, think clear shellacked white cloth handlebar tape - I may offer other colors in the future, but for now, this is the only color option 1 basic main compartment, no exterior pockets or sleeves or map case Leather tombstone slip Leather strap attachment on bottom Leather accents 8" width 5" depth 5" height Shockcord and hook closure for main flap All of the above are set dimensions and features. The bag has the following options: (1.) Waxed cotton trim around main compartment flap - choose black, brown, gray, green, or dark blue (2.) Bag closure is in the BACK (closer to rider) or in the FRONT (further away from rider) Price is $60 plus shipping ($6 conUS, probably a little more other places). I have a web storefront that can take Paypal or credit card for payment. Batch will be filled once 10 people have shown an interest. I'll probably make the batch if there's less than 10, but 10 will be the maximum for this go-around. This is a hobby, and I have a very small operation so turnaround time would be 4-8 weeks. Photos of prototype bag are here: http://s821.photobucket.com/user/dabanzer/library/Bags/Mini%20Rando%20Bag?sort=3&page=1 Small changes to the batch would be... - matching cloth trim on the top of the sides - shock cord will be a more neutral color, probably gray - cord hooks will be silver (same ones that Acorn uses) - main top flap will be a little longer to ensure compartment is completely covered Also, I'll be sticking with the natural fabric for now. A few people inquired about it's stain resistance. I did a ketchup test on a small piece.
