When the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute tested various household chemicals for 
their effects on helmets, they did a pretty basic visual inspection:

Seems like if the foam isn’t visibly affected, it’s probably OK. That being 
said, if I crashed in a helmet I would replace it even if I couldn’t see any 
damage.
