For me, it's not so much the temperature that's a factor as the length of the day. Here in Eastern Massachusetts it gets dark astonishingly early by the late Fall and through the Winter. While I'm happy enough to ride at night, I find that that puts a limit on the length of my rides at those seasons, regardless of the weather. Conversely, the long days of Summer seem to beg for long rides.
