When I was hit by a car and Bleriot was mangled, the backup bike (1971 Gitane TdF) was recalled from the daughter's shed. She had kidnapped it, but wasn't using it. Borrowed a 700c generator hub wheel from a friend, replaced the rear wheel with one which had a functioning hub (the Helicomatic hub died), and used it as a commuter for several months until Bleriot returned, all repaired and repainted. Had to remember how to use downtube shifters :-)
