Actually, I think the question of why your boots came with heels is an interesting one. I honestly don't think the manufacturers put them there to make male users to look like they are in heat, but a Google search of "why boots have heels" didn't turn up much in the way of useful info.
Grant's email about heels on boots that will be used for running downhill helps explain that particular use case. The same can be said for cowboy boots, which have heels for a specific reason. But there must be a large, more widely applicable reason for boots (and, indeed, most shoes) having heels. Is it simply style? Growing up in the 70s, I was a witness to the "earth shoes" phenomenon. Even owned a pair of those "negative heel" shoes myself. Like so many other 70s fads, that one faded away. Can you even still buy them? If so, they're a niche product that obviously didn't change the way most shoes are made (as I recall, they were in fact blamed for a number of Achilles tendon injuries). --Eric N www.CampyOnly.com CampyOnlyGuy.blogspot.com Twitter: @CampyOnlyGuy > On Dec 26, 2014, at 11:44 AM, Deacon Patrick <lamontg...@mac.com> wrote: > > But if you have to explain the joke, it looses it's punch.
