I've had regular Hetres, extralight Hetres, and now extralight Babyshoe
passes.

   1. Only *one* flat on regular Hetres, caused by a sharp thorn from me
stupidly walking the bike through a thorn bush. The thorn penetrated right
through the center of the tread section. I've had these tires for four
years and at least a couple of thousand miles. For the past year these have
seen commuter duty on pot-hole pocked urban streets.
   2. No flats on the extralight Hetres, but I only used them for less than
one season, maybe a few hundred miles. On their second ride, one got a
really bad sidewall nick which I had to boot from inside and superglue on
the outside... that tire has become the spare that I carry with me. Could
have been bad luck, and happened to any tire. The roads were rocky gravel
that ride, and I suspect the wheel had rolled through a narrow rut and
gotten abraded by a sharp rock.
   3. No flats on the extralight Babyshoe Passes, and they've seen one
whole season, around 1000 miles. No flats or nicks.

All three sets of tires have seen lots of the same rocky gravel roads
around New England and upstate NY. The Babyshoe Passes have perhaps seen
the most rough roads of the three sets.

For gravel riding, I typically keep them at 30psi front, 35psi rear. I
weigh 165lb.

I'm just one data point, so take it for what it's worth. But I would not
hesitate to ride those Babyshoe Passes anywhere except on really technical
rocky stuff.

What are the conditions you're concerned about? I can post photos of some
of the typical surfaces these tires roll on if you like.
