I headed out, unsure how far I'd make it. Decided on the shorter Lovell Gulch
at the junction. Pikes Peak is wearing her snow cap again, after Hurricane
Simon Petered out over Colorado the past two days. Glorious Autumn day in the
40's! Blue sky morning, clouding up as afternoon arrived. Frost lingered on the
north facing hills and a wondrous golden carpet was rolled out for me on most
of the trail. No chains broke, single speed was marvelous, and a woman mistook
me for a mountain lion as I had my pipe in an aspen glen (I didn't see you! And
I'm looking for mountain lions!"). I didn't have the heart to tell her the
mountain lions you have to worry about are the ones you wouldn't see until they
are on your neck. Sardonic grin. A grand wee ride!
