I couldn't get the supplied straddle cable to work to my satisfaction. I made my own "normal" cables. If you look at the photos on riv's site, you'll see they did the same on one bike: http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/brakes?a=1&page=all#product=15-140
Mine work like a charm now.
