I headed out this morning at 7, wheels crunching through the thick frost. I had
no idea how far I would go, but had in the back of my mind that I'd ride the
Rampart Reservoir loop if I kept feeling good. Mile after mile, I kept feeling
great.

I'm surprised how little of the core abdominal muscles I use standing to climb.
Lower back, yes. Abdominal, far less. That's a good thing, 9 days out from
surgery! Grin.

Aspen colors are stellar. What a wondrous gift to get to ride these roads and
trails out my front door!

Oh, I nearly hit a deer while climbing (go figure). She was grazing on the side
of the road. I watched her as I approached. Single speeds are quiet. I remember
that now, not then. She startled into the road as I was nearly next to her,
only just quick enough to evade my front wheel. Then she went really fast.
Anyone know the best way to get deer hair out from my teeth? Sardonic grin.

Photos tell you I either had a brilliant ride, or hired someone to have one for
me. Grin.
