I had a custom chain catcher brazed on the chainstay of my '99 and, while it works, the old-fashioned seatstay-mount peg would be more useful, at least for a fixed/ss drivetrain, since it keeps the chain high and off the ground. Failing that, I wish I'd asked for a distinct "L" shape for the chainstay-mounted catcher.
Still, both types help and I intend to have a seatstay-mounted peg installed on the '03 (which was built as a derailleur bike and doesn't have either; I have a clamp-on seatstay hook right now).
