North of SF, there is a hostel in the Marin Headlands, which is accessible via the "Hawk Hill" / Conzulman Road route.
There is also an SF ferry which goes to Larkspur, and you can take the bike path north through Cal Park Tunnel to San Rafael, then over to China Camp State Park (looping around San Pedro Point Road/North San Pedro is a good scenic route) where you can camp and roll around the singletrack. There's also Samuel P.
