I do not wear a helmet. I learned early on riding the Hunqapillar that the subtle weight and movement of the helmet on my head really messes with my vertigo. I experienced an amazing sense of freedom through Grant's take on helmets (aka they aren't the magic most think they are), which allowed me to stop thinking of them as "required" kit. I instantly noticed I rode with greater caution as that false comfort of "I'm invincible!" was not longer there. And I am free to enjoy the ride however long I am able. We do require our kids wear helmets while they are learning (to include learning to ride with traffic, and no longer put their bike down for no apparent reason) for those incidental bumps that helmets are so effective for.
