Dan,

Thanks for that very insightful input. You are touching on some things
that I failed to mention. Mainly the "stupid hurts" factor that I can
be overcome with at times. You are really singing the truth with the
confidence building of full suspension. Many times I realized half way
through a downhill that I was indeed riding much faster than I
intended. It's easy, the bike really does smooth it out, but if things
go pear shaped the payment can be large. Like you, my fast days are
behind me, and honestly I was a faster climber than descender. When I
was having fun climbing, I had my suspension locked out anyway, so I
doubt the ride will suffer any there. And as for the technical
stuff...I learned how to ride all that on rigid bikes and enjoy it.
The shocks only made me care less about the line and sped me up.
Picking through the rocky stuff on a rigid is pure fun.

I am not sure the Bombadil is the bike either, but I am certainly
happy with my Bleriot and Riv as a company. I've dealt directly with
several of the biggies, some of the smaller ones, and even worked
building frames for a small TI company. Nowhere along the line have I
dealt with a company that does business like Rivendell. It was really
refreshing, and enjoyable. So in a sense I was sold on the company and
bike combined. If I can continue that with another bike then cool.
Although I have been looking at the Rawlands too. I believe they are
doing some nice stuff and from what I can tell are a good company to
boot. Plus, even though the Yeti is a top notch bike and in darn near
new condition...I dont think it would pull enough to cover a Bombadil.
Certainly not a built one unless used. So financial constraints may
have the say. Our season here is wrapping up, and since I never got
out anyway, I do have the winter to mull this over.
