I have no idea, Michael. I removed the pins from my pedals (VO Sabot soon, currently using VP Vice). The only time I have slipping issues is when the pedals ice up from snow, and then I consider that good practice to push down on the pedal rather than laterally. That's helped improve my pedal stroke.
I can say that a woman at VO wears Vibram Five Fingers with her Sabot pedals with rounded pins in and swears by them.
