My fairer-skinned-than-you, bald father loved to sit outside in the noonday equatorial sun, shirtless, hatless, sun-screen-less, at 5,000+ feet no less, for several hours at a time, in full summer (December; 90 miles south of the equator), and lived to 80 with no skin problems.
