On some Rambous we screwed them on, but noticed a small percentage had a
big of rubbing on the steer tube from the screws (well, pop-rivets), and we
had to go through 50 frames and check each and disassemble and punch out
the rubberguy to avoid any long-term catastrophe...so no mas on that. I
understand that rubbing was not a common problem in the old days, but my
response wasn't to investigate and compare and resurrect the Olde Methode
on the new bikes, but to slam dunk avoid it the smart chicken way with glue
or tape. We've used clear calking and some super expensive 3M double-stick
(like, $3 a foot), and I think that's what we're going with now.
Thinner flexier badges don't ever fall off, but don't look as special when
they're on...so we allow for a few to fall off and get lost (to be found
in ten to eighty years by a confused but delighted hiker). Getting a
replacement is not hard, but don't ask for two "in case it happens again."
