Mike Kone is a bright guy, but not sure there is a problem here. I attached a mid size Acorn with a Bordo Granite no problem. On shorter tours I used a loaded Carradice Super C with hoop. Packed that bag with clothes, shoes, tools and Minox binoculars (like to star gaze). No problems.
