They are apparently Red-Eared Sliders which are not native and most likely escapees or rejects from someone's home terrarium turtle habitat. Or, considering the area, a generation or two beyond. There is something about a SamRide that brings out the observable. Perhaps it is my attitude whilst riding such a bike. Hugh, Curtis, and Mike can attest to our passage through a photo/film shoot of dubious character after clawing our way up a power line service trail to Torrey Pines Public Park.
