Isaac,
I have a 62cm Myata 610. Mechanically and structurally the bike is in
excellent condition. The frame has some over painting on the toptube
and front fork which are cosmetic concerns. This frame and fork are
are superb. The tires are 27x1/14 (new Kendra) and the rims are made
in Japan in very good shape (46 spokes) and the wheels are true. The
hubs have been thoroughly cleaned and repacked as has the bottom
bracket. It has a six speed freewheel and a new chain. The crank is a
Sugino (52-34-26) 175. The I have planetbike fenders on it. Shifters
are Shimano friction downtube. Shimano brake levers. Brakes Tektro
caliper. Custom aluminum stem Nitto?) and ergonomic drop bar wrapped
with new cork tape. Front derailer Shimano. Rear derailer Shimao Acer.
Pedals are Shimano with Power Grip straps. It has lugs everywhere for
bottle cages (3), front and rear racks and fenders. The bike needs
nothing and runs and rides like a dream. It has an ordinary seat on
it, but I like it very much. I bought this bike used and have gone
through it from stem to stern. It is set up to go not to show. The
Myata frame ( triple butted lugged CroMoly) and fork (Chromoly) from
this period are unsurpassed. You could spend some money to upgrade
with new or newer components but I don't see why you would want to.
Everything is functionally perfect and of excellent quality. You might
want to repaint the frame and fork, but even there, because I have
used it for commuting, touring, and some gravel roads I haven't
bothered because I have seen it as a workhorse to ride. It is avery
stout steed.
My reason to sell it? I just bought a new Sam Hillborne and it is my
primary bike. I would feel good if this Myata could find a good home.
This week I will try to post some photos. And I would be glad to
answer any more questions you or anyone else has. I would like to get
$500 plus shipping ( not sure what that might be. Maybe around
$100.00. I have usually ridden a 58cm road bike. But since learning
much from RBW I have gone a bit larger and this 62cm is very
comfortable and smooth as butter. Let me know if you or anyone else on
the list are interested. Respond on the list or privately at donlyon
(at) bellsouth.net or call 386-747-3544. I live in DeLand, Florida
Cheers,
Don
