I don't think it's entirely fair to call SRAM links dangerous.  If you
read the press release, certain production runs of their 10 speed
power links MIGHT not have been properly heat-treated.  That sounds
like a transient manufacturing defect, not a design defect, and it
happens even to the best companies from time to time.  I think SRAM is
doing the right thing here.  FWIW, I've ridden SRAM chains with power
links exclusively for the past 8 years; 9 speed on my mountain bike,
and 10 speed on my road bike since SRAM released their road gruppo a
few years ago.  I even run a SRAM 10 speed chain on my Shimano-
equipped Hilsen (sorry folks; I like the steps on a 10 speed 12 - 27
cluster).  I've broken Shimano chains in the past (I don't fault them
-- it happens), but never a SRAM.  In my experience, the SRAM chains
and links are great.
