Wow - I knew those places around Austin 40 years ago! I recognize those old
trees in Emma Long Park, but the lights are new to me. And no, you don't
need much to camp in TX in the summer. One S240, long before the S24O as we
know it, I slept up the little canyon/intermittent seasonal creek uphill
from the developed park area, in what was then an open area created by an
old burn, filled with exotic skeletal trunks of junipers still standing
years later. And all night long, in the moonlight, the whippoorwills sighed
and sang to the stars and to me. It was a glorious dawn, even though I
didn't all that sleep that much that night.
And those pics of the road cut through the hill on the north end of that big
bridge over the Colorado River (the Texas Colorado River). I remember when
they cut those hills, and how the earth bled cascades of water for months
afterward. That limestone was full of water, even though the aquifer was
hundreds of feet <above> the river level there. Once it was drained, I
wonder if it ever flowed again.

In the springtime, or in the winter, after or during a rain, go up that
creek east of the picnic area and see if curtains of water flow over the
undercut cliffs along that creek. And look for the little native pecans up
there, too.
