I have trouble becoming enthused about a handlebar bag that attaches directly to the handlebars. The previous handlebar bags made by Rivendell that followed the "Boxy" bag concept used the Nitto F15 "Front Bag Supporter", which is also used by some of the Guu-Watanabe bags available from Wallingford (at a very high cost). This kind of support system allows the bag to be mounted in an offset position from the handlebars, without necessitating a support rack beneath. It also permits use of the handlebars as they should be used without eliminating hand positions while riding.
I used an older Eclipse design handlebar bag, for many years, that had an offset rack which supported the upper perimeter while using "shock" cords to stabilize the bag which attached to the fork eyelets. It worked quite well. Today, I'm using the Gilles Berthoud type of handlebar bag (a GB2586) with a VO decaleur and "Mark's rack". I still liked the old Eclipse bag as well as any I've used (which has included the previous Rivendell "Boxy Bag" with an Nitto F15 support rack).
