Well, you're right about the Spot.  In hindsight, I should have left it with 
them.  I only used it three more times after we parted, then I lost touch with 
them as well!  I wish I had given it to them.

Anyway, yes, it was a wonderful ride between Sacto and Pueblo, but my fvorite 
section was between Hanksville and Blanding Utah.  Soooooo remote out there.  
Another BIG plus, we had great weather.  Only rain of any note was from the 
crest of Monarch Pass in Colorado to Salida.  Other than that,pretty dry . . . 
and hot!

Why didn't you just lend the other riders your Spot and then have them
mail it back at the end.  I mean now that you got me all hooked on
your trip blog and all.  ;-)

Anyways, great ride, great stories.  I too rode my Rivendell along the
stretch from Gunnison to Dolores via Telluride and it was magnificent.
 I have driven US50 across Nevada when I was 17 and it was hard to
imagine as a teenager doing it on a bike but now I would love to.
