I can answer a few of those questions. The Heron bikes had different
lugs, much 'plainer' than the Sachs-designed Riv lugs. They used a
very distinctive seat lug with sockets for the stays, no mistaking
that for anything else. IIRC they were all 531, making them less
expensive than the 753 Riv-branded frames. The Heron site is still up
at http://www.heronbicycles.com/, so you can view geometry charts and
such. Per that site, production began in 1997, ownership transferred
to Todd Kuzma in 2001, and production ended in 2007. The geometry
shown for the Heron Road is nearly identical to that of my early Road
Std., but all of my old readers and catalogs are packed away at the
moment so I can't confirm a couple of details.

The Ram follows the pattern of the Long Low in using standard reach
brakes and having more tire clearance. The drop was a little greater
on the LL (as the name implies) than the Road, and I suspect but can't
state for sure that the Ram has a bit more drop than a Road Std. None
of Grant's bikes have had 'low-trail' designs, and I'd expect that to
continue with the Roadeo.
