Yes, the Cane Creek SCR-5 lever should work as a modern replacement.

Of course, they are more expensive than used parts-bin levers, but
very reasonably priced for good quality levers.

They have a quick release "button" and (although I haven't personally
tried it) are rumored to accept the original gum hoods.
