58mm is 58mm, no matter how you hang the fender up near the brake. The space between the chainstays on a Saluki isn't wide enough to stick a 58mm fender down in there. The fender will overlap the width of the stay, as can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/97916...@n00/3522098460/in/set-72157617915097787/ Now if you were going to use a 52mm VO fender, you'd have a 6mm narrower fender and it probably would fit between the stays without cutting. VO says these fenders will fit tires up to 44mm, and they're certainly a lot less expensive than 58mm Honjos (which are $120 and up with hardware). They're not as polished as Honjos, but you can work wonders with some Simichrome and some time.
