I suppose the "comments" function would be dependent on the comfort level of those who manage it.
But, having one stream of information would be nice. I tend to spend less time actually searching through YouTube, than watching YouTube vids embedded in a blog. I think that would be a nice feature. Pulling in articles from the reader to a blog and allowing expanded content, such as video/photo ride reports, how-to's, etc would be awesome.
