Just wondering what others think of this proposed bike tax.  Personally, it
seems idiotic.  Why tax the solution, and especially when we already pay
tax?  The argument that accepting a tax gives cyclists weight legally fails
to recognize the number of times throughout history that such a compromise
has never produced what it promised.  It comes from the old paradigm based
on power, and not the new one based on what works for everyone.

And may I point out that no other country that takes cycling as
transportation seriously taxes its citizens in this insulting manner.  In
fact, the cause of the problem - motor vehicles - is taxed heavily to
provide services for cyclists.

Hope this post isn't too OT- I really look forward to hearing what others
have to say.
